Introduce your kids to basketball at a young age with the Spalding Youth portable basketball system, which features an easily adjustable telescoping backboard that can be set 4.5 to 6 feet in height. It’s a great choice for use with a size 3 junior basketball, and it can be used both indoors and outdoors. The three-piece, 2-inch diameter pole system assembles and breaks down quickly, and the base is stabilized with either sand or water (and includes a built-in holder for the ball). It’s matched with a 32-inch fan-shaped Eco-Composite backboard (made from recycled materials) and 14-inch solid steel rim.

Spalding always manufactures quality sports’ equipment and this smaller standard is no exception. However be careful when assembling the upright poles (3) to insure that later you can adjust the height of the backboard. The instructions were a bit confusing and one important step was over looked by me when assembling. The adjustment holes need to be facing FORWARD and not sideways (as I did) resulting in me having to manually drill holes to adjust the basket’s height. In re-reading the instructions I saw where I made my error, but the instructions were not clear as to which way those holes needed to be facing. If I ever assemble one again for another grandchild I will know the trick and not make the same mistake twice, but it is a GOOD product. It is sturdy, well connected, easy to assemble (with above note) and easy to move.

I will buy another one in the near future.
